Arctic Monkeys NZ Shows
ARCTIC MONKEYS kick start 2009 with shows in Wellington and Auckland alongside their Big Day Out performance.
In 2006 Arctic Monkeys (Alex Turner, Matt Helders, Jamie Cook and Nick O’Malley) saw their debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not shoot the Sheffield quartet straight to the top of the British charts. They received a Brit Award for Best Single for I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor and won the much coveted UK Mercury Music Prize 2006. Their second album Favourite Worst Nightmare topped the charts again in April 2007, earning them two Brit Awards for Best Album and Best Band and saw headline Festival performances at Glastonbury (UK), T in the Park (UK), Summersonic (Japan) and their own special two day events at Old Trafford (UK) and Malahide Castle (Ireland).
ARCTIC MONKEYS’ first visit Down Under, in 2006, was a welcome reminder that great bands do exist, and can still play incredible shows.
More recently the band have decamped to the Californian desert to record with Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme with new material planned to be unveiled in the New Year.
Support from DJ Zane Lowe and Collapsing Cities.
