Big Day Out Joins Forces With
MySpace For Signing Tent
A trip to the Big Day Out signing tent is a highlight for many fans heading to the annual music festival, which takes place at Auckland’s Mount Smart Stadium on Friday 16 January 2009.
And this year, with MySpace joining the fun and sponsoring the signing tent, there’s a new dimension to getting into the queue to have your favourite Big Day Out artist sign your card.
“You need a MySpace profile to get into the signing tent, but over 500,000 New Zealanders already have those,” says MySpace NZ’s Head of Business Development Susan Carlton. “Bring along a printout of your profile or be able to show us your account on your mobile and you get straight into the queue.
“We will also have a computer set up in the tent for people to sign up to MySpace so they can get into the signing queue.”
But MySpace’s Kiwi Hub, the home for New Zealander’s on MySpace, will also be running a queue jumper competition online so it’s definitely worth signing up as a friend with Kiwi Hub before the Big Day Out.
“MySpace has been a key driver of the new music explosion on the internet,”says the Big Day Out promoter, Campbell Smith. “We’re glad to have them aboard.
“I imagine it’s a chance for artists to meet a lot of fans who are friends of theirs – albeit friends in the MySpace sense, where a band like Arctic Monkeys can claim 125,850 myspace friends, only to be outdone by Neil Young with 221,831 at last count. I myself am just good friends with that chap Tom.”
Announcements about artists added to the signing tent and the line-up times will be announced via MySpace Big Day Out profile http://nz.myspace.com/bigdayoutauckland and Kiwi Hub http://nz.myspace.com/kiwihub
