Festival of Colour invests in new ticketing system

PRESS RELEASE

Festival of Colour invests in new ticketing system

LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (26 November 2008) – A new ticketing system will streamline the ticket sales process for the 2009 Festival of Colour making it easier for patrons and customers to book their seats for over 30 inspiring performances of theatre, dance and music from national and international acts in April 2009.

The biennial arts festival felt the time had come to invest in its own system rather than relying on a third party and training of festival staff in the high tech system was completed last week.

“We are delighted with the new system,” said festival director Philip Tremewan. “By purchasing our own software we have greater flexibility and can make it easier for our audiences when they book tickets, especially internet bookings. The main bonus for festival go-ers is that there are no additional charges on tickets. The rates quoted are all inclusive of booking fees.”

Tickets for the Festival of Colour go on sale on 12 February 2009 for patrons and sponsors and public sales are available from 23 February. They can be purchased either via the festival website – www.festivalofcolour.co.nz , the Lake Wanaka iSITE or Lake Wanaka Centre.

Prices for the Festival have been set at $32 for the main bill events and $10 for advance sales of the daytime concerts and speakers. 100 tickets for each of the highly popular daytime sessions will be held back and sold on the door for $5.

An additional benefit of this new system is that is gives local groups and touring productions coming to Lake Wanaka an alternative for ticket sales.

“The system can be made available to any group selling tickets to any kind of event. So long as we cover the costs of the system, including the ticket stock and administration time to set it up, then we would be delighted to make this service available to the wider Wanaka community,” said Mr Tremewan.

The next Festival of Colour takes place on 28 April to 3 May 2008 and is generously supported by Central Lakes Trust, The Community Trust of Otago, Creative New Zealand, Infinity Investment Group, Queenstown Lakes District Council and Aurora.
