TVNZ Rocks For New Season 2009
TVNZ today announced its New Season 2009 line up with stars from their shows, and performances by Kiwi rock band
Evermore.
2009 sees the return of hit international shows Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Brothers & Sisters, Dirty Sexy Money, Private Practice and the final series of ER on TVNZ, as well as TV ONE's top-rating local
shows Dancing With The Stars, Stars in their Eyes, and Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
Next year also sees some exciting new international hits on the TVNZ schedule, including The Mentalist starring Simon
Baker, Fringe from J.J. Abrahms, Jerry Bruckheimer's Eleventh Hour starring Rufus Sewell, Reaper the creative brainchild
of cult filmmaker Kevin Smith and Crusoe, an adaptation of Daniel Defoe's masterpiece starring Sam Neill.
New local shows also feature strongly in 2009 on both TV ONE and TV2.
TV ONE will screen Diplomatic Immunity, a comedy about a fallen diplomatic Foreign Affairs high-flier, who ends up
babysitting the morally bankrupt staff of the embassy of The Most Royal Kingdom of Fe'ausi. Created by James Griffin
(Outrageous Fortune, Serial Killers), Diplomatic Immunity stars Craig Parker and Dave Fane.
The TV2 schedule features Go Girls, from the makers of Outrageous Fortune, Shortland Street, Whale Rider and Sione's
Wedding. A new local drama/comedy series about love, friendship and (bottle) blonde ambition, Go Girls stars Anna
Hutchison (Shortland Street, Power Rangers, Orange Roughies), Jay Ryan (Neighbours, Sea Patrol, Interrogation, Being
Eve) and newcomers Alix Bushnell and Bronwyn Turei.
The local slate also sees the much-awaited return of iconic Kiwi show Top Town, with 15 towns competing to become New
Zealand's Top Town, as well as new local factual series Birdland hosted by Jeremy Wells, South hosted by Marcus Lush and
How The Other Half Live hosted by Marc Ellis.
