Side-splitting laughs at the Manukau Festival of Arts

There’s still plenty to laugh about at the comedy events scheduled during the final week of the Manukau Festival of Arts.

The fantastic Manurewa-based Kila Kokonut Krew bring their much anticipated play ‘Once Were Samoans’ to the stage of the Metro Theatre in Mangere on 12 and 13 November.

Writer Vela Manusaute is thrilled to bring ‘Once Were Samoans’ to Manukau for the first time.

A side-splitting hour of entertainment, the play focuses on the Tufifi family getting ready to go to a family reunion. The four un-ambitious sons, two obedient daughters and their commandant mother make for an interesting and hilarious combination.

If that’s not enough to satisfy your fix of home-grown laughs – go along to the Southside Comedy show at the TelstraClear Pacific events centre, hosted by Billy T award winner Mike Loder on 14 November.

Thousands have experienced the wit and comedic talent from past shows over the years – don’t miss out, tickets are still available.

Mr Loder says the comedians are the absolute best.

“These acts are from the top pro circuit – they’re touring the world the whole time.”

The laughs will hit the roof at The Great Comedy Debate on 16 November. Debating “That Manukau is the New Black” this evening is sure to provide hilarity and thought-provoking debate all at the same time.

Six comedians from across the country including Jon Bridges and Michele A’Court will be hotly debating the moot.

All three shows have received rave reviews in the past and are one of the most popular events on the Manukau Festival of Arts calendar.
