Award winning New Zealand film opens environmental film festival in Wellington
Award-winning New Zealand film, The Nuclear Comeback, will open the Wellington season of the Reel Earth Environmental
Film Festival on 20 November.
The Nuclear Comeback has just received the Best International Documentary prize at the Cinemambiente Awards in Italy,
the world's oldest and most prestigious environmental film festival.
The Reel Earth Environmental Film Festival covers the important environmental issues of our time – from the debate
around where our energy comes, to the dilemma of managing introduced species, whale strandings, over fishing, and the
impact our changing climate is having on the world's plant and animal life.
The films are engaging and entertaining and include stunning photography, unexpected humour and inspirational people
whose actions are making a difference to their corner of the world.
Reel Earth was founded in 2005 as a community based project and has grown to become a leading environmental film
festival in the Southern Hemisphere. This years' Festival received a record number of entries from all over the world.
The Wellington season is organised by Forest and Bird and sponsored by Geon Print. All proceeds will go to the Forest
and Birds 'Places for Penguins' project which restores and protects the habitat of little blue penguins around
Wellington's coast.
