Football Fever Fundraiser
31st October 2008
Football Fever
Fundraiser
Street football hits Civic Square next Friday
to support the New Zealand Homeless Football World Cup
Team.
The day culminates with the viewing of the
internationally recognised film ‘Kicking It’. The
feature documentary, narrated by Colin Farrell, follows
seven players from different corners of the world to the
Homeless World Cup.
Kicking It screens at the Illot Theatre (Wellington Town Hall) at 6pm. Tickets are $10 (at the door) or a cash donation with proceeds going to send the NZ team to the Street Football World Cup in Melbourne.
Downtown Community Ministry is delighted to have two of our service users selected for the team and many more will join in with festivities on Friday.
Earlier, at 1pm, the public are invited to
join in and play street football themselves and then at 4pm
two competitive matches will start.
The first match
will see the Wellington Street Football Project against a
celebrity team including Norm Maxwell and the second has
Wellington City Council staff against the Yellow Fever
Supporters’
Club.
