Festival Of Poker
This October expect to see the City of Sails set alight with poker fever, as the SKYCITY Festival of Poker kicks off.
Running October 4 to 12, the SKYCITY Festival of Poker is hoping to become New Zealand’s biggest ever poker tournament, aiming for a $1 million prize pool. Already guaranteed at more than half a million dollars, the prize pool is sure to get pulses racing amongst poker pros and amateurs.
Featuring leading international players, including Team PokerStars Pros; Joe Hachem, Lee Nelson, Greg Raymer, Grant Levy and Chris Moneymaker, the tournament gives you the chance to compete against some of the world’s best poker stars.
While poker has taken the airwaves by storm, Ejaaz Dean, SKYCITY Auckland’s Executive Manager - Table Games, says he feels it is time New Zealand unearthed its own poker champions.
“Lee Nelson is a great ambassador for New Zealand poker, and we look forward to discovering other players of his calibre throughout the Festival.
“To be holding this inaugural tournament is important for poker, and we’re proud to be bringing the thrill and glamour of the sport to New Zealand. This is a great opportunity to see local champions play their hands against international stars.”
Satellite tournaments for entry into New Zealand’s biggest ever poker tournament are being held by casinos and pub poker leagues nationwide. For more information on how you can take on the world’s best poker players, visit www.festivalofpoker.co.nz.
