Stepping Inside Creative Genius
Over two nights, on three stages and with seven bands; Whitireia music students are working together with original songwriters and poets to step inside the creative genius of David Bowie and The Beatles.
“For over twenty years the Whitireia Community Polytechnic music course has been trainingsome of New Zealand’s top musical entertainers,” says programme manager Dan Adams.  Students have worked to produce their own rendition of the music and will perform this publicly, at Shooters Bar in Wellington City.
The bands will reinterpret Bowie & Beatles songs, and the singer-songwriters and poets will present original work following thetheme of ‘Spidersfrom Mars’.
The gig is an opportunity for students to experience live performance. “Participation is optional”, says Adams “every student has chosen to be involved and that’s what makes this so cool – that the gig is real, they won’t be assessed, this is purely for them.”
Performances areon 24 Sepat 10pmand 25 Sep at 8pmand entry is free. The students have come from across the region to study in this commercial music school, whichincludes sound production for events, digital sound production and DJ music as well as band performance and music skills.
