NZ Artist Directs Music
Video In Brazil for International Pop Star
Major record label requests NZ Artist Shona McCullagh to direct in Rio de Janeirothe new single from platinum selling musician, Ayo.
Universal Music (http://www.universalmusic.com/artist/ayo) and OParadize Films (http://www.oparadizefilms.com/) currently have Shona McCullagh in Rio de Janeiro, Brazilto direct the latest music video of Parisian artist, AYO. Through established film director McCullagh’s creative input, AYO aims to follow up success of her first platinum record.
The music video will be influenced by McCullagh’s short films Hurtle, Fly, and Break produced by Marg Slater and Ashley Stuart Coupland. All films feature rigging by Scott Anderson of Uni-Rig and scores by David Long. Supported by the NZ Screen Innovation Production Fund and New Zealandcrew members, these films continue to gain international attention.
AYO (http://www.myspace.com/ayo) has earned the European Border Breakers Award and is currently embarking on American success. Additionally she has performed on the David Letterman Show and opened for acts such as Kenneth ‘Baby face’ Edmunds. McCullagh’s employment as director plans to aid AYO with her break through success in the United States.
Shona McCullagh is a cross-platform artist focusing her time on creating interactive installations, filmmaking and choreographing for feature films and television series. Although this is Shona McCullagh’s international music directorial debut, fellow NZ Arts Foundation Laureate Don McGlashan was the first musician to invite McCullagh to create a music video. She is founder and Director of The Human GardenAgency as well as a New ZealandArts Laureate.
