Sport a Striking Prose!
NZ Book Month is set to promote a time for great male bonding by organising a day dedicated to all things manly with “A Word in his Ear”; a night focussing on sports, adventure and “being a bloke” presented by four literary and sporting commentators discussing the stories and words which have spurred them into action.
In celebration of Father’s Day, and to promote reading as an activity to be shared between dads and sons, Peter Leitch, freewheeling ordinary bloke talks with Phil Gifford, national icon and award winning broadcaster, with William Pike, survivor of the recent explosion on Mt Ruapehu, and with Otago Rugby CEO, Ron Palenski, who will provide the rules of the game to the conversation.
An evening of smart, fast moves and quick wit, this father’s day special is not to be missed – especially with a free beer at kick off.
The culmination of this presentation will see the panel signing autographs as well as some other special guests. The authors’ books will be available for sale at the event.
This is a stand out event for fathers and sons with discussion, conversation and NZ Book Month giveaways throughout the night.
“A Word in his Ear” is proudly supported by The Edge and all of NZ Book Month partners.
“A Word in his Ear” is just one of the programmes on offer at this year’s NZ Book Month – which embraces Kiwi writers of screen, novels, non fiction, poetry and short stories and gives men in today’s society a chance to mix literary prowess with sports, adventure and male bonding.
