PEACHES -- the self-made, self-produced, high priestess of do-it-yourself and do-it-better –returns to New Zealand, now playing Auckland and Wellington!
Previously a highlight of two separate Big Day Outs, Peaches is bringing her beat-frenzy electro-madness back to our shores, proving that a spectacle isn’t viewed simply through the rose-tinted lenses of memory.
With a new date at the Powerstation on Wednesday 24th September, and a Wellington show just announced for the SFBH on Thursday 25th September, the original high priestess of provocation is set to thrill NZ audiences once again with her subversive and highly-entertaining live show, sometimes described as “a one-woman Kiss concert”.
Currently gearing up for her fourth album, Peaches is seven years into a career that has seen her take on the President, duet with Iggy Pop and Pink, tour with NIN, and record with Joan Jett. She has achieved worldwide acclaim and notoriety for her highly-charged material that has put the fun back into funk, the X into sex, and the lay into lady.
Originally a Canadian school teacher(!), Peaches was dubbed “the respectable voice of the filthy” by the London Observer in 2006; and there is certainly no shame or ambiguity in her mix of gender politics, tongue-in-cheek vulgarity, and rock’n’roll take on electro dancefloor styles.
As well as being a noted performer, Peaches has remixed Daft Punk, Le Tigre, Basement Jaxx, B52s, Tone Loc, Queens Of The Stone Age, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Yoko Ono, Bonde Do Role, and our own Ladyhawke.
This Sept will be Peaches first visit to our nation’s capital, and a welcome return to Auckland. A special guest will open shows in both cities – stay tuned for the announcement.
Note the change of date for Auckland and the just-announced Wellington show! Tickets now on sale from all Real Groovy Auckland and Wellington stores + Fast and Loose K'rd.
