Women Show Sexy Backs For Charity
A kiwi photographer is asking women to turn their backs on a good cause – but it’s not quite what you think!
James Price is photographing the backs of New Zealand women (and some supportive men) for his project, cheekily titled Sexy Backs. It’s all part of an artistic initiative designed to celebrate women and ultimately support some very deserving women’s charities.
James Price says Sexy Backs will only feature backs as the subject matter, an innocent but still fascinating part of the female body.
“Sexy backs is all about showing femininity, not provocative sexuality, so by photographing backs I can capture the curves of a woman without intimidating the subject or offending the audience,” he says.
Price says his inspiration for the project initially came from the simple desire to celebrate the women in his life through a photographic retrospective.
“I have a mum, sisters, nanas, aunties, friends, colleagues, a wife, and a daughter, who are all important women to me, so I thought they deserved to be celebrated”, he says.
Price has high hopes for his project, with the ultimate goal to produce portraiture books, calendars and other products for charity.
“We aim to donate these products for fundraising projects to a range of organisations who support women positively, be it physically, mentally, or emotionally”, he says.
