Font designers to discuss inspiration and research

Leading font designers to discuss inspiration and research

What inspires and informs the type designer and user? How do the artist, the type designer and the typographer develop philosophies about communicating the visual forms of their language?

In mid-July the Adam Art Gallery will host a free workshop––Wordplay: The Art of Typography––with New Zealand’s leading type designers as part of its current exhibition, Collect/Project.

Collect/Project examines the activity of collecting and celebrates its forms and subjects and is open until Sunday 13 July.

This discussion will workshop thoughts and ideas on what informs the practice of typography and the research methods and strategies used to implement type form —something that generally goes unnoticed by the reader.

What: Wordplay: The Art of Typography
Where: Adam Art Gallery, Gate 3, Kelburn Parade, Wellington
When: Saturday 12 July, 2-4pm
