Napier Residents Light Up Their Hearts For Variety

Charitable shoppers in Napier are leading the way this month with their support of the Variety Red Heart pen campaign raising funds to help Kiwi kids with special needs to realise their life goals.

With over 2,500 unique red light-up pens sold since 1 June by The Warehouse Napier, the store results account for 34% of nationwide sales to date with only two more weeks to go in the campaign.

Following closely behind Napier in second place nationwide is The Warehouse Invercargill with current sales of 1,700 pens, highlighting the generosity of heartland New Zealand.

Variety Red Heart pens are available until the end of June for a $2 donation with all proceeds going towards Variety’s 2009 Gold Heart Scholarship Fund, designed to help New Zealand children achieve artistic, educational or sporting goals, in the face of serious personal challenges.

Lorraine Taylor, Variety CEO, says that Variety is very thankful to The Warehouse for selecting Variety to be its charity partner for the month of June and encourages people to give their support.

“The Variety Red Heart light up pens are novel, appealing and lots of fun to use. We thank The Warehouse for giving us this opportunity and urge Warehouse shoppers, throughout New Zealand, to purchase a pen (or two) and help foster the talents of young New Zealanders who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged,” says Lorraine.
