Budding writers celebrate completion of programme
Graduates of the First Chapters – Ngā Wāhanga Tuatahi writing programme will celebrate and reflect on their achievements at The Sir Edmund Hillary Library in Papakura on Wednesday 18 June.
Formerly known as Writer in Manukau Libraries (WIML), this successful programme provides the opportunity for would-be and emerging local writers to receive one-on-one coaching from an established, successful author.
Writer in Residence for this year’s programme was award-winning New Zealand writer James George. James, a short-story writer and novelist is of Ngapuhi, English and Irish descent. He is the author of several novels including Ocean Roads and Hummingbird.
Members of the media are invited to attend the graduation event and hear James talk about his First Chapters experience. Some of the graduating writers will present readings of their work.
First Chapters - Ngā Wāhanga Tuatahi is presented by Manukau Libraries and Papakura’s Sir Edmund Hillary Library in partnership with the New Zealand Society of Authors.
