1000s to convene on capital for youth talent quest
Thousands to convene on capital for youth talent quest
This Queens Birthday welcomes the return of Aotearoa's most diverse talent quest, FUSE, at the Michael Fowler Centre in Wellington.
After an extensive regional auditioning process stretching from Whangarei to Dunedin, FUSE will see young singers, songwriters, musicians, dancers, speakers and visual artists competing in over twenty categories.
Over two days entrants will be judged with selected entries performing alongside seasoned performers in consecutive night concerts. Special guests performing at FUSE include Tui award winners Rapture Ruckus, World Hip Hop dance champions PRESTIGE (formerly Dziah) and New Zealand International Comedy Festival comedian Dave Wiggins.
Formerly called CTC, FUSE has ignited the talent of many New Zealand artists. Past competitors that have gone on to build careers include Brooke Fraser, Steriogram, actor Jay Lagai'a and members of Elemeno P and Nesian Mystik.
In partnership with aid organisation Global Tribe, FUSE is also a unique opportunity for young people to take to the stage and use their talents to help others. Last year saw enough money raised to build a house for a poor family in Mexico. In 2008 the focus is on building a new boys orphanage in Nepal that will provide a home and schooling for under-privileged boys.
