Official NZ Music Month 2008 Clothing Range Now Available

New Zealand Music Month 2008 kicks off today with a full range of official NZ Music Month clothing now on sale, including the iconic Music Month target tee, hoodie and cap as well as a range of special edition tees.

This year’s clothing range, available at Hallensteins stores throughout the country, features the limited edition “Play your NZ Music LOUD!” tee by Sam Walsh, winner of the inaugural My Music Month Tee design competition.

Sam was the people’s choice winner of last month’s online design competition, receiving the most votes for his vibrant design which highlights the power of New Zealand music. Hallensteins has been involved in New Zealand Music Month for four years, with numerous requests for the earlier promo-only Music Commission tees leading to the development of a full retail range.

The idea for a public design competition was conceived after the release of 4 limited edition tees in 2007 and the influx of consumer feedback and design ideas that followed. Glenn Hesson, Hallensteins’ marketing manager, says Hallensteins’ involvement in Music Month has evolved to support the public’s increased connection with Music Month and New Zealand Music.

“The amount of feedback we receive on the Music Month ranges is phenomenal; everyone wants to share what New Zealand music means to them. It is great to see the public so enthusiastic about making Music Month their own” he says. A percentage of sales from the Music Month clothing range goes to the New Zealand Music Commission. Steve Newall, NZ Music Month Manager, says Hallensteins’ support is important in ensuring the success of NZ Music Month, “making the lions share of Music Month activities possible”.
