Blackout welcomes Mike Corless

PRESS RELEASE

Blackout Music Management Ltd is pleased to welcome into the fold Mike Corless, legendary manager, promoter and general stalwart of the NZ music industry. On Mike’s return to NZ after living in the UK for a good decade or so, Barry met up with him and over a cold pint or three discussing the state of the nation, it was sorted!

“When I first came to Auckland as a young muso and came across Mike, he had the fiercest reputation amongst what was then a rather small but good pool of managers and promoters. I’m pleased to say, he’s still got it and as such I’m very happy to have him commandeering the Blackout Music side of Blackout Management” says Barry of his old friend. “In fact, I probably still owe him some money for our band posters from the 80’s….”

For those that don’t know him, Mike Corless set up New Music Management Ltd (NMM), in 1979 operating as band management and booking agent and setting up a NZ circuit of live music venues for touring bands and musicians. Throughout the 80s, NMM toured numerous top Australian and New Zealand bands including, INXS, Cold Chisel, The Angels, Mental As Anything, DD Smash, Toy Love, Dance Exponents, Hello Sailor, The Mockers and Dave McArtney’s Pink Flamingos. In association with the late great Benny Levin, Corless also promoted major international acts in New Zealand throughout the 80’s, including Elton John, The Beach Boys, Rod Stewart, Queen, Don McLean, Simon & Garfunkel, Lionel Ritchie and Cheap Trick.

Mike has amalgamated with Barry and Nancy Blackler at Blackout Music Management to set up a new booking agency listing a broad cross section of live entertainment for venues, events, festivals, as well as representing iconic New Zealand musicians and entertainers for special celebrations and corporate events.

Corless is back in town, and ready to book some bands. Feel free to contact him on the details below. Check out the web site: www.blackoutmusic.co.nz
