Thought-Provoking Series Set To Clinch Prime-Time Presence For Stratos
New Zealand's future economic growth, and
what will drive it, is closely examined in a new prime-time
television series on Stratos Television.
Hosted by internationally-renowned New Zealand physicist and science communicator Professor Paul Callaghan, PAUL CALLAGHAN PRESENTS comprises weekly in-depth interviews with prominent New Zealand business entrepreneurs and commentators such as The Warehouse's Stephen Tindall, financial journalist Rod Oram and Weta Workshop's Richard Taylor.
Professor Callaghan is Director of the MacDiarmid Institute for Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology and the nine-part television series is produced by e-Cast Limited, New Zealand's specialist educational television distributor (www.e-cast.co.nz). The series launches on Stratos Television (Freeview Ch 21 and Sky 89) on Monday May 19 at 7pm.
Professor Callaghan is a staunch advocate that high-tech companies will lead the way in New Zealand's economic future. In his view, our future prosperity should be driven by a greater commitment to science and technology along with innovation, imagination and enterprise – an argument he delivered to professional and academic audiences throughout the country during a recent lecture tour.
Scheduling the series into the 7pm half-hour slot is part of Stratos Television's strategy to provide a new style of nightly business-orientated television for viewers seeking a refreshing, intelligent alternative.
PAUL CALLAGHAN PRESENTS will add the final touch to an already prestigious line-up of quality business programming on Stratos Television. NIGHTLY BUSINESS REPORT, the highly respected business roundup from the United States' Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) which screens at 7pm on Tuesdays to Saturdays inclusive, includes daily results from the Wall Street stock market as well as key global market information.
Chief Executive Officer of Stratos Television Jim Blackman says: "This new series – PAUL CALLAGHAN PRESENTS – challenges the perceptions of New Zealand's future prosperity, and waves the flag for our high-tech entrepreneurs and business leaders".
Guests on the first series of PAUL CALLAGHAN PRESENTS are: Richard Taylor, Weta Workshop; Stephen Tindall, The Warehouse; Neville Jordan, Endeavour Capital; Di McCarthy, The Royal Society of New Zealand; Michael Chick, Tait Electronics; Mike Daniell, Fisher and Paykel Healthcare; Rod Oram, financial journalist; Bill Denny, Proacta; Andrew Coy, Magritek.
