Brash and Foreman front up to The Hollow Men

Don Brash and Diane Foreman front up to The Hollow Men

MEDIA STATEMENT: 17 April 2008

Amid the release of the police investigations into how author Nicky Hager obtained secret emails from Don Brash’s office. Dr Brash found time to watch himself on stage last night!

The cast of The Hollow Men, currently on stage at the Maidment Theatre in Auckland were stunned to last night (16 April) discover two of the characters played on the stage were sitting live in the audience.

Former National Party leader Don Brash and party donor Diane Foreman attended the play separately last night – and despite an Auckland businessman offering to pay for the cost of the tickets for key National Party members, the play’s producers understand Dr Brash and Ms Foreman paid for their tickets.

The play, which is at the Maidment Theatre until Saturday, focuses on the events leading up to the 2005 election and Dr Brash (played by Stephen Papps) and Ms Foreman (Lyndee-Jane Rutherford) are pivotal characters.

The Hollow Men director Jonathon Hendry was thrilled to hear that Dr Brash and Ms Foreman came to see the performance, adding that while the play focuses on one point in time in politics, it is really about the machinations behind politicians and is very relevant as we head into the 2008 election.
