NZ Goes Nuts As Beau Tyler Takes To The Road
NZ Goes Nuts As Beau Tyler Takes To The Road For A National Tour Of Self Help Hysteria
Over 60 performances in 35 towns... there’s no escape from the phenomenon that is Beau Tyler.
After the successful Auckland season of A Night with Beau Tyler in 2007, Feeney McSweeney Productions is delighted to announce the 2008 NZ tour of this satirical masterpiece.
With 60 shows set to play in 35 centres throughout New Zealand, this year’s national tour promises to be one of the biggest of recent years. From Invercargill to Keri Keri venues have booked the show, which has also been picked up this by the Nelson Festival, the inaugural Cabaret Festival in Christchurch and the Fuel Festival in Hamilton.
2008 will find Beau Tyler on the come-back trail in his all-new, revved-up, essentially the same as last year but glossily repackaged hottest-lamest-soon-to-be-exported sensational one hour Failure Focused Personal seminar. Kiwis all over the nation now can experience the dubious benefit of this workshop from the shining star of the disturbing and fickle world of the self-help industry…
A Night with Beau Tyler pokes fun at the Antony Robbins type motivators who have cultivated a multi-billion dollar global business. The show takes an entertaining swipe at the self-help movement through the personal journey of guru Beau Tyler, as he travels down into the hollow centre of his personality, and bounces back again, stunned but unrepentant. Funny and thought provoking theatrical satire, Peter Feeney bases the character of Beau Tyler on the popular television character he plays in the ongoing Tip Top Memphis Meltdown series of television commercials. Feeney’s character has his own unique spin on the pseudo-science that is self-help; where those with the thinnest of credentials can diagnose in normal people symptoms with inflated or invented maladies - and implement remedies that have never been known to work…
Feeney’s talents have not strictly been limited to theatre and commercials. Many international movie goers instantly recognise him as Angus Oldfield from the New Zealand comedy horror Black Sheep. He also starred in 30 Days of Night alongside Josh Hartnett. His performances in the United Kingdom have not gone unnoticed either, having appeared in Peter Cook and Dudley More biopic in Not Only But Always and the television series: Cold Feet.
New Zealand however knew of Feeney long before
the rest of the world from his starring roles in
Shortland Street as Dr. Nathan Exley, Rude
Awakenings as Dr. Spencer Fantl, and nomination for the
“Best Short Film Performance” category at the 2003 New
Zealand Film and TV awards( for The Platform). Fellow
Tyler junkie, show director Greg Cooper has been involved
with theatre and film for over 16 years, as an actor,
writer, producer and director.
“The Beau
Tyler character, fallen guru, rising phoenix-like was a
perfect balance of pathos with self-love and ultimately
explained why the genre he is subverting works…” PULP

“If laughter is indeed the
best medicine, then A Night with Beau Tyler is
efficacious therapy indeed. “ - THEATRE
VIEW
"Truly inspirational. Without Beau's help I
would never have had the courage to dance like a star. He
showed me that failure truly can be your friend. Five stars
to this guy."
