The wait is over… The ITM Fishing Show is back!
Each season of The ITM Fishing Show seems to raise the bar in bringing compelling fishing television that keeps fishers and non fishers alike captivated with the full-on action and stunning underwater footage. This series is no exception with the shows producer and presenter, Matt Watson, ‘fizzing’ about the footage from his most recent adventures. “I’ve watched some of the clips hundreds of times and they still haven’t lost the ‘wow factor’, I can’t wait till the viewers see this stuff, they are going to freak-out!”
If last seasons ‘fishing stunts’ had you thinking that The ITM Fishing Show couldn’t get any more extreme, Matt and his team are back to show just how extreme fishing television can be as they push the boundaries of fishing feats. Last season saw Matt battling huge marlin on a jet-ski and swimming with mako sharks with fish strapped to his body, just to name a couple, but by his own admission Matt has pushed the envelope to the limits of sanity by hand lining in a giant blue fin tuna, 100 kilometers off the South Islands rugged West Coast – from a dinghy!
“I was warned by the local commercial fishermen, they said ‘if you try this you will be killed’ – of course I said “she’ll be right” but I was under no illusions it was going to be dangerous”. This entire mission was caught on film and it was not without it’s drama and dangerous incidents, “I won’t be doing that again in a hurry” was all Watson could muster after surviving the epic tussle with a 320kg giant tuna.
There is no doubt that Matt’s antics and the stunning underwater footage from his team have brought a whole new dimension to fishing television, but they haven’t lost sight of the fact that there are a million anglers in New Zealand, it’s “fishing television, made by fishermen, for fishermen”. In the new series, viewers will see more full-on action, more extraordinary fishing feats, as well as the dazzling underwater footage which has become a hallmark of the show. Nestled in amongst all this crazy action, cutting edge footage, clever story telling and humour, Matt also imparts his extensive fishing knowledge through tackle tips.
As viewers of The ITM Fishing Show have come to expect, there is going to be something for everyone, locations ranging from Westport to the Arabian Sea with all manner of fish from snapper and kingfish, to giant tuna and marlin... and all bundled up with an interesting angle, a compelling story and stunning photography.
This isn’t your average fishing show. This is fishing television at its very best! You can see it for yourself; TV 3, Saturdays, 4:30.
