Monty is dancing for stars of the future

While Monty Betham is dancing into the nation’s hearts on Dancing with the Stars he is also helping Plunket give children the best start in life.

Monty’s 14-month old son Riley is a Plunket baby – and Monty chose Plunket because he believes it plays such an important support role for new parents.

“Plunket gave my wife and me great support right from the start. It was so important to have support and advice around Riley's progress and health and having someone there to advise on moving Riley on to solids and advice on sleep” says Monty. “I chose Plunket as my charity because they have helped my family and they’ve also helped many of our friends through PlunketLine phone line and clinics. We need to ensure Plunket is recognised and supported to do the good work they do.”

“Plunket is crucial because our kids are so precious and are they are our future. Life is hard enough without our kids getting setbacks or facing adversity early on in their lives. Plunket helps kids to get the best possible start”.

Plunket President Carol Becker is delighted that Monty is showing his support for Plunket.

“We can’t thank Monty and Nerida enough – it’s so exciting to see them on TV dancing for New Zealand children. Every single child is a star – and we want all children to get the best start. It’s fantastic to tune in every week and see Monty and Nerida dancing for Plunket – they are amazing! So make sure you vote for them.”

The money raised by Monty and Nerida on Dancing with the Stars will go back into communities throughout New Zealand, to help fund important support services for families including Family Centres, Parenting Education and Car Seat Rentals.

You can vote for Monty by texting Monty to 8981 or calling 0900 89 814. Tune in to the show Tuesdays, 8.30, TV1.
