'So you think you can dance' star choreographer, Oliver Pineda, will shimmy into Wellington to perform in the International Dance Showcase and teach salsa workshops at The NZ Pacific Salsa Congress on Easter weekend, March 21-23.
Pineda, with his dance partner, Luda Kroiter, are also the current WORLD SALSA CHAMPIONS and their performances are renowned for bringing people to their feet, unable to resist the display of speed, rhythm and precision.
Many dance enthusiasts will be prying themselves from the Saturday night 'So u think u dance' couch vigil to find they indeed can get the rare opportunity to see what the world's best can do on stage in The International Showcase.
Oliver
and Luda are sought after around the world. Luda Kroiter
hosts Dancing with the Stars, Australia, and was one of the
feature dancers in Burn the Floor. Oliver juggles a busy
schedule teaching at his own dance academy, choreographing
for shows like "So u think u can dance" and performing and
teaching at Congresses around the world. This year
Wellington is on the Salsa map with the NZ Pacific Salsa
Congress.
"This really is a rare chance to be taught by the world champions who are also the best teachers, whether you want to brush up on your technique and go a little further or you're an absolute beginner," says Heidi Hughes, the event organiser. "There is something for everyone who can't resist those Latin rhythms. You can take in the theatre style shows or pick up a pass and do all the shows and workshops."
Directing the Saturday night feature -The International Salsa Show – The (Un) Adulterated History of Salsa, is Wellington based actor and dancer, Jake Rosevear and dancing with the world champions also is Wellington dance teacher, Rafael Ferra Noel.
A world class line up of teachers and performers with credentials as long as an arabesque will be arriving from around the globe as performers and teachers in an incredible celebrity packed programme of dance enjoyment.
