Shore Sounds Depot Showcase
March 04, 2008
The Checks, fresh back from touring overseas, played a lively home-coming show to a 1500 strong crowd at Devonport’s Windsor Reserve last Friday as part of North Shore City’s Shore Sounds Free Summer Concerts series.
The much talked about weather bomb stayed away just long enough to allow this showcase to proceed which was a relief as poor weather has forced the cancellation of three Shore Sounds, including last Saturday’s SJD show.
The Depot Showcase featured five bands who have been assisted by Devonport’s The Depot Artspace, a community organization that supports and helps develop those involved in the arts.
Performing bands included, The Early Birds, Brand New Math, Death In Gaza, Liquorice Twists and local legends The Checks.
If you are one of the three people, highlighted and numbered in the crowd photo from Friday night, you have won yourself a free Shore Sounds summer pack.
To collect this pack, simply cut the photo out and present it in person at the North Shore City Council’s head office reception, and you will be issued your free pack.
The next two Shore Sounds shows are this weekend, with Little Bushman at Onepoto Domain on Saturday, and Scribe, Elemeno P, Atlas and Goodnight Nurse at Onewa Domain on Sunday.
Please note, the Onewa Rd off-ramp and on-ramp will be closed, so northbound visitors will have to get off the motorway at Stafford Rd or Northcote Rd.
Look our for detour signs on the day, and go to www.northshorecity.govt.nz for more details.
