New Zealand U18 Ice Hockey Team beats Mongolia 29 - Nil

The New Zealand Under 18's Ice Hockey team has begun their International Ice Hockey Federation World Championships Division 3 Group A campaign with a huge win over Mongolia 29 - 0! The tournament being held in Mexico City, will see the New Zealand team face off against Mongolia, Mexico, South Africa and Chinese Taipei as they strive for Gold and promotion to Division 2 next year.

New Zealand scored 7 goals in the first period , 10 goals in the second and 12 goals in the third with Mongolia having no answer to the Kiwi onslaught.

New Zealand will next face South Africa tomorrow Tuesday 4 March at 11:00am New Zealand Time.

The U18's are looking to follow on from the success of New Zealand U20's clean sweep in the IIHF World Championships Division 3 held in Serbia in January this year.

2008 will also see the New Zealand Ice Fernz competing in the Women's IIHF World Championships Division 4 tournament in Romania in March and the Senior Men's Team the New Zealand Ice Blacks competing in the IIHF World Championships Division 3 tournament in Australia in April.

New Zealand U18's IIHF World Championships Schedule:
Vs South Africa Tuesday March 4 at 11:00am (New Zealand Time)
Vs Chinese Taipei Saturday March 8 at 2:00pm (New Zealand Time)
Vs Mexico Sunday March 9 at 2.00pm (New Zealand Time)
