Hip Hop Sensation Heads to Wellington

MEDIA RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hip Hop Sensation Sean Kingston Heads to Wellington
Teenage chart-topping sensation Sean
Kingston is heading to New Zealand to perform one show only
in Lower Hutt, Wellington.
Beat Element & Andrew McManus present Sean Kingston at the Lower Hutt Town Hall on Wednesday 12 March.
At just 18 years old, Miami-born artist Sean Kingston took the music charts by storm with his debut single “Beautiful Girls” and has followed it up with new singles “Me Love” and “Take You There”.
But it’s Kingston’s stand against the use of profanity in his music which has seen him at the centre of controversy and his debut album won’t be coming with the ‘explicit lyrics’ warning label so often seen on hip hop albums.
“With this album I thought it was important to not use curse words or negative language that might offend people. I write my own songs so it’s like if I can write a great track without using those words, then that’s the style for me.” Sean continues, “As an artist, my whole goal is to make powerful and classic album. I want everyone to feel my music and understand my heritage and that’s what this album will do.”
But Kingston is not just a new face in popular music – he’s creating a new genre, melding together rap, reggae, pop, doo-wop and remarkable songwriting into something totally refreshing. Add his family roots, which cite Jamaican legendary producer Jack Ruby as his grandfather, and you have one of the most exciting debuts this year.
Sean Kingston plays one night only at Lower Hutt Town Hall, Wellington on Wednesday 12 March. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster.
