Bugden Takes Second Superbike Title
Mr Consistent Australian Robbie Bugden clinched the New Zealand Superbike Championship for the second time today at
Manfeild, with two wins from two starts, on his TripleR Suzuki, at round four of the Castrol New Zealand Superbike
Championships.
Bugden has won every race in this year’s series giving him the title with one round to spare. The trans–tasman battle
now moves down to second position with Hamilton’s Andrew Stroud (Suzuki) and Australian Gareth Jones (Yamaha) only four
points apart.
In the 600 Sports Production class series leader Christchurch’s Dennis Charlett had an off in race one, giving the win
to UK’s Midge Smart on his Yamaha. Race two was run in two parts because of an accident with Smart winning both legs.
Smart was very happy with his day considering he was returning after breaking his collarbone at round one. Even though
Charlett perfect record was broken he still leads the series.
The minor classes are still lead by the dominant riders 125GP by Cameron Jones, Glen Williams Formula three; however
sidecars have a new leader in Wanganui Steve Bron.
The series now moves to the final round at Pukekohe on March 8/9
