The capital's last chance this summer to catch Storehouse, unconventional purveyors of the rawest, funky blues & slave-era spirituals, as they return to Wellington for two nights, including one monstrous double-bill at Happy on Feb
22nd with local freakout ensemble Fertility Festival that serves as the unofficial Ornette Coleman after-party.
Storehouse (UK based guitarist /vocalist Tom Rodwell and bassist Joe Pineapple) have recently returned to NZ from a
33-date four-country world tour, that climaxed in November at the Wellington International Jazz Festival. They have
since been appearing in Auckland's home of the underground, the Wine Cellar, with a series of increasingly sweaty,
stomping-from-the-wilderness shows.
Rodwell has recently been interviewed by Metro magazine, the Dominion Post, Radio New Zealand and Salient (Victoria
University). He will be returning to the US and European circuits, and will also resume his wax cylinder recording
project in Sheffield, England. The final Storehouse NZ summer 2008 shows, following their escapades in Wellington, will
be at Auckland’s Wine Cellar on February 29th and March 8th.
Storehouse appear with the mysterious musical cult known as Fertility Festival. Who are these masked men? A
communication via smoke signal reveals: "Fertility Festival – available for rites, rituals, celebrations and ceremonies.
