A million reasons to turn out your pockets

If ever anyone needed a reason to turn out their pockets and look behind the sofa cushions, Lotto can give you a million of them says NZ Lotteries' Chief Executive Todd McLeay.

"We are still waiting to hear from the holder of a winning $1 million voucher that was issued as part of the Lotto Holiday 100 promotion, when a player bought a Triple Dip at Tairua Stationers in Tairua," says Mr McLeay.

"It's more than six weeks since this massive prize was won, so we would love to find the lucky winner.

"Many Aucklanders holiday in the Coromandel over the Christmas break, so maybe the winning voucher is now back in the big city.

Anyone who bought a Lotto Triple Dip ticket in Tairua during the promotional period from Sunday 16 December to Saturday 29 December and was issued a voucher should check it as they could be the winner.

The $1 million winning voucher number is 936491.

"I'd be checking pockets, wallets, the floor of the car, beach bags, even inside the chilly bin!" said Mr McLeay.

100 prizes worth over $4 million in total were given away as part of the Lotto Holiday 100 draw. Two holiday homes worth $500,000 each were also won by vouchers sold in Blenheim and Dunedin.

The Dunedin holiday home winning voucher sold at Port Chalmers Hammer Hardware has also yet to be claimed. The bach winning voucher number is 197694.

"There area a couple of people somewhere in New Zealand who are in for big surprises if they take the time to find these winning vouchers," says Mr McLeay.

Both prizes must be claimed by 29 December 2008.
