Plunket has rounded up a champion for fun run
Nationally renowned half marathon runner, Sarah Christie, is volunteering for Plunket and lacing up her running shoes to compete in the annual Wellington Round the Bays event on Sunday February 17th.
Sarah, mother of three beautiful children, is relishing the opportunity to give back some of the support she received from Plunket – New Zealand’s largest provider of services to support the health and development of young children in New Zealand. “I was approached by a local Plunket volunteer to see if I would like to be involved”, says Sarah. “Plunket gave me so much confidence in myself as a mother through their support and advice on breastfeeding, that I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity“.
Sarah will be joining over 100 Plunket volunteers who will be teaming up with Sport Wellington on the day to support the 7km fun run and walk. Funds raised through a sausage sizzle and donation buckets at the event will help local Plunket services in Wellington, such as parenting courses and family centres through a sausage sizzles and bucket shaking.
Keep an eye out for Plunket Volunteers selling wristbands! If you are spotted wearing one of the Plunket wristbands during Round the Bays you could win a spot prize courtesy of The Southern Cross Garden Bar and Restaurant, Huggies and Oceania Health who have kindly donated spot prizes to Plunket.
