A night at the movies under the stars

A night at the movies under the stars

Aucklanders can enjoy classic Kiwi films free at Mt Eden’s Tahaki Reserve.

Movies in Parks is an exciting new addition to the 15th year of Auckland City Council’s Music in Parks programme, which features more than 40 free events this summer.

The films are projected onto a large inflatable screen after dusk, following pre-movie entertainment by local musicians.

The weekly, mid week line up begins on Waitangi Day with Niki Caro’s Whale Rider and opening act Jonny Corker. Other flicks coming up include Sione’s Wedding, Sleeping Dogs, Goodbye Pork Pie and The World’s Fastest Indian.

Music in Parks 2008 is proudly sponsored by Holden Astra and Drake International, and supported by New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT), The Lion Foundation, Radioworks (Solid Gold, The Breeze, More FM, Radio Live and Kiwi FM), 95bFM, Mission Bay The Promenade, Ecover and NZ Rockshops.

Visit www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/mips for full Music in Parks programme details.
