42 Below and MINI do the driving

42 Below and MINI do the driving after you do the drinking

Get into the spirit of the season – the 42 BELOW spirit that is – and we’ll give you a lift home in a luxury MINI.

Dashing through the snow isn’t really an option here in New Zealand, so 42 BELOW has teamed up with MINI to provide a free lift home to festive 42 Below drinkers in December.

Here’s how it works. It’s based on a loyalty card – the card collects one stamp for each purchase and when you and your friends have collected six stamps one of our drivers comes over and carts you pretty much anywhere you want to go (*conditions apply).

The card also contains instructions on how to claim the free ride. A 42 BELOW representative on hand in participating bars and restaurants ensures the service runs smoothly.

The service is available at select CBD bars and restaurants in Auckland and Wellington from December 6 until December 21.

42 BELOW boss Paul Dibbayawan says at this time of year it’s especially important for booze companies to encourage festive responsibility.

“Most of us go out and enjoy ourselves at this time of year so we want to make sure those who do enjoy 42 BELOW also get home safely. We see it as a great way of emphasising the message that drinking and driving is not acceptable. This is our way of providing a solution instead of just telling you what to do.”

MINI New Zealand National Manager, Greg Hedgepeth says where drink-driving is concerned, MINI is proud to be part of the solution rather than the problem.

“We’re right behind 42 Below on this initiative as two like-minded brands who like to have fun but understand the need to behave responsibly,” he says.

The scheme operates between seven and 11 pm on Thursday and Friday nights. Altogether 10 MINIs are available – eight in Auckland and two Wellington.

* As always, conditions apply, so here they are:

  • All locations available, so long as they’re within 10kms of your pick up point.

  • 10km one way maximum free ride subject to availability of car

  • Service operates between seven and eleven pm, on Thursdays and Fridays from December 6 to 21, 2007

  • Three passengers maximum per trip

  • You need six stamps for one location

  • Each person can collect a maximum of 3 stamps

42 BELOW reserves the right to decline carriage
