Mission Estate Winery Adds To Awards Tally With 5-Star Cuisine Rating
A Five Star rating by Cuisine magazine is the latest of a raft of recent awards for Mission Estate Winery.
Mission Estate Winery's 2005 Mission Reserve Noble Semillon has been recognised as a wine of outstanding quality, and awarded the highest rating (five stars), by Cuisine Magazine.
The Mission Reserve Noble Semillon is made from fruit sourced from Mission Estate's Church Road Vineyard. It is pale straw in colour and shows complex botrytis aromas with waxy Semillon notes. The palate is very full, with fine ripe flavours on a very long clean finish and remarkable freshness and lightness in the mouth for a wine with so much residual sugar. The 2005 vintage is suitable for careful cellaring for up to five years.
Mission Estate Chief Winemaker, Paul Mooney says being recognised by Cuisine magazine reinforces Mission Estate's reputation as a leading wine producer.
"Cuisine magazine ratings are very respected by New Zealand consumers, and we are very pleased that our Mission Reserve Noble Semillon has been rated so highly by the judges," says Mr Mooney.
The Cuisine Magazine Five Star rating is the latest of a string of awards for the hugely successful 2005 Mission Reserve Noble Semillon. The wine has been awarded three gold medals since its release, including Gold medal at the prestigious New Zealand International Wine Show (2006), and also won a Silver medal at the 2006 Air New Zealand Wine Awards.
"This recognition by Cuisine caps off a very successful year for Mission Estate. In addition to the wins by the Mission Reserve Noble Semillon, our Mission Reserve Viognier has performed extremely well against strong competition and received multiple awards, and our Jewelstone Chardonnay holds a five star rating with Wine State," says Mr Mooney.
