Radio One Brings Space-Rock Recluses Back into the Dunedin Orbit
After a year of bringing top-class acts to the shores of Dunedin, Radio One does it again: fetching Chris Heazlewood home as Cash Guitar and the Silver Dollars for Onefest Series part 6. They’ll be decking the halls on the 14th of December at the Crown, and the best part is it’s free for those with ANZ Onecards, and just $10 on the door for everyone else.
Chris Heazlewood is internationally infamous as the founding member and guitarist of seminal psychedelic surf outfit King Loser, but as his current incarnation Cash Guitar and the Silver Dollars he will be playing with a handpicked selection of top-notch Dunedin musicians. Radio One Boss Lesley Paris says “We are lucky that the planets aligned and we could lasso Heazlewood in from the outer reaches of the galaxy (Auckland) to come play some suave guitar styles for us all.'
Cash Guitar and the Silver Dollars will be flanked by retro-futuristic space-invaders The Futurians. Although this is their first Dunedin appearance in over two years, The Futurians have more than 40 albums circulating in the global reptilian underground. And The Haunted Turnies will be keeping it mashed, smashed and psychedelic in the breaks with their eclectic freak-funk.
Don’t miss Onefest Series Part 6: Cash Guitar and the Silver Dollars, The Futurians and The Haunted Turnies: this is a trip into the peripheral galaxies of space-rock which will come only once in a blue moon.
