Close Shave For Defence Movember Contest
A large number of whiskery faces gathered at Defence House in Wellington on Friday for the Movember Mighty Man Mo-off.
Judging for the competition was a close shave but the final four winners were: the Mega-Mo Award for the most momentous moustache: Colonel Morgan Proctor, the Lame-Mo Award for the sparse moustache: Pilot Officer Jamie Wallace, the Show-Mo award for the most artistic moustache: Jamie Clelland and the Faux-Mo award for the best fake mo: Celeste Blakesley.
New Zealand Defence Force personnel as far afield as Afghanistan and Timor Leste have been proud to support the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand by participating in the Movember fundraiser for prostate cancer.
The competition included civilian and military personnel from the greater Wellington region.
Most of the moustaches are not here to stay. “Like most of the other participants I am looking forward to shaving it off tonight,” said one contestant.
Movember, which ran during November, involved men being sponsored for growing a moustache to raise funds for and awareness of prostate cancer.
The event has been a fantastic success for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of New Zealand which aims to raise around $1,200,000.
