New Zealand Cricket: Restrictions On Accreditation
New Zealand Cricket – Restrictions On Accreditation
Restrictions on news coverage of international cricket events in New Zealand this summer are to be dropped by New Zealand Cricket from their news accreditation documentation following a very positive meeting with newspaper representatives and New Zealand Cricket in Wellington today.
Newspaper Publishers Association Chief Executive Lincoln Gould said New Zealand Cricket plans to publish new accreditation forms online as early as possible next week.
“We understand specifically no limits will be placed on data/text/still transmissions post stumps. Restrictions on publishing news photos/data and text to mobile platforms are to be lifted.
“General agreement was also reached on the right of media to utilise “fair use”' on the web although some details around duration etc. are still to be confirmed,” said Mr Gould.
The new arrangements will be reviewed at the end of the season and New Zealand Cricket has expressed a willingness to continue open dialogue on issues.
The discussions between the NPA and New Zealand Cricket followed concerns being expressed to the cricket administrators that news coverage of tours to New Zealand by Bangladesh and England would be unjustifiably restricted by the original accreditation arrangements for the 07/08 international cricket season in New Zealand.
“However, once we expressed our concerns to New Zealand Cricket they have been very positive in their response,” said Mr Gould.
