Putting the FUN into fundraising
Karori Sanctuary is giving people two great opportunities to toast the return of rare native wildlife to Wellington this
summer!
Following a successful fundraising drive last Christmas, Wellington’s Karori Sanctuary has once again joined forces with
Matariki Wines to release Karori Reserve – specially-branded bottles of the award-winning Hawkes Bay winery’s 2003
Cabernet Merlot and 2006 Sauvignon Blanc that will be sold to raise much-needed funds for ongoing conservation work at
the world-first wildlife project.
“The Sanctuary has been a major factor in bringing native birds back to Wellington” said Sanctuary chief executive Nancy
McIntosh-Ward.
“We should all be toasting the fact that Wellington has experienced by far the most dramatic increase in native birdlife
over the last 10 years of any city in New Zealand. And what better way to celebrate this achievement than with a glass
or two of these great value wines?”
This year, the wine can be purchased direct from The Cellar Room on Karori Road from now until 7 December; ordered via
the Sanctuary website www.sanctuary.org.nz; or by calling 04 920 9200. Orders must be received by 4 December 2007.
And for those who prefer their wine from the South Island, cutting-edge Gibbston Valley winemakers Peregrine are holding
a special twilight tasting at the Sanctuary on the evening of 21 November as part of the Regional Wines & Spirits wine tasting calendar.
Regional Wines are long-standing corporate supporters of the Sanctuary and all the profits from the evening will be
