Dallow & Barry Battle It Out For Best News Spot
Simon Dallow (ONE News) and Hilary Barry (TV 3 News) are polling neck and neck in this year’s TV Best on the Box Awards in the Best Presenter News category as voting reaches its final week.
Voting for the 2007 TV Guide Best on the Box Awards closes at 5pm on Friday 2 November and TV3 are making a strong run for the top titles in this year’s awards.
According to TV Guide editor Julie Eley there are literally one or two votes between Simon Dallow and Hilary Barry at present in the Best Presenter News category.
“It could really go either way,” says Eley. “This is unheard of in the history of the Best On The Box Awards as ONE News have always had a stronghold on this category. However, it highlights how the public have embraced 3 News.”
In previous years, ONE News has always won the Best On The Box Best Presenter News Award. Simon Dallow took the 2006 title and Judy Bailey before him held the title for a number of years.
TV3 is showing strong competition on all fronts. In the Best Presenter Current Affairs Category media darling John Campbell is currently polling streets ahead of his competitors.
In other categories, sexy westie Robyn Malcolm who plays Cheryl West in TV3’s Outrageous Fortune is blitzing the Sexiest Woman category with current votes rating well ahead of her contenders current title holder Toni Marsh (TV3), Bernadine Oliver-Kerby (ONE News) and new Breakfast host Pippa Wetzell (TV One).
Current reigning champion, Dallow is also battling it out with Outrageous Fortune Stars Aaron Jeffrey and Anthony Starr for the Sexiest Man title. The ONE News presenter with a boy-next-door charm has won the sexiest man title five times in a row.
It is now up to the viewing public to decide who the winner is and they will go into the draw to win a home entertainment system valued at over $3600 just for placing their vote. Last year there were over 12,000 votes from viewers for their favourite New Zealand TV personalities and shows.
