TVNZ will broadcast the exhibition match between Wellington Phoenix FC and the LA Galaxy featuring star signing David Beckham LIVE on TV ONE and simulcast at tvnz.co.nz. The match will also be available to viewers at tvnz.co.nz after the event.
TVNZ is the host broadcaster for the match in the capital on Saturday, December 1. The big event will screen LIVE on TV ONE from 7pm, and will be hosted by Geoff Bryan with commentary from Noah Hickey and Glen Larmer.
TVNZ General Manager of Sport Murray Needham says the broadcast on TV ONE will be a tremendous boost for football's profile in New Zealand.
"We see this occasion as a very special opportunity for all sports fans to see one of the world's football superstars in action in this country both free-to-air and on-line."
ONE Sport producer, Stu Dennison, says: "David Beckham is one of the true stars of modern sport. He is a class act, with skills to which other football players can only aspire. Seeing Beckham in action in Wellington will be one of those moments in time you remember forever."
Beckham is expected to take the field at Westpac Stadium in front of a sell-out crowd; more than two thirds of the available tickets have already been sold.
