All-day ‘bed-in’
pushes world peace
Organisers of the 2007 Bed to Air for world peace are confident Wellingtonians will show their love tomorrow, October 9, for the all day ‘bed-in’ to celebrate John Lennon’s birthday and promote world peace.
The 2007 Bed to Air event will be held in the shop front of iconic fashion store Rex Royale, where a giant bed will be set up, and outside the shop in Cuba Mall.
There will be all day entertainment from some of Wellington’s most recognisable musicians and appearances and support from organisations such as Oxfam and Amnesty International. The Bed to Air will be broadcast all day on Radio Active 89FM.
The event was organised by radio DJ Paul ‘Redbird Jr’ Shelley to help highlight the global peace movement and raise awareness for charities and organisations that work to help others. Throughout the day, these organisations and identities will join Shelley to talk on-air about issues relating to world peace and sustainability.
The line-up of entertainers dropping in includes Barnaby Weir (Black Seeds), Joe Lindsay (Fat Freddys Drop), Module, Tommy Ill, Odessa, and DJs Marek, Kava, Takkas, Amber, Josephine, Forge, Excelle, Jake Silver, Bryce and others.
Cuba St restaurant Scopa will be providing specially-made Peace Pizzas. Participating organisations include Trade Aid, Greenpeace, Red Cross, Amnesty International, Oxfam, Peace Wellington and TroopsOutNow.
