'hallelujah'- Jubliation Is Back In Town!

Presents
THE BIG GOSPEL GIG

Following a string of successful high profile gigs, the star studded Auckland
a cappella choir with the big gospel sound are back in town for a performance that will bring the Concert Chamber alive with soulful rhythms and powerful vocals on Saturday November 3,.almost an exact year since they packed out this venue for the first time in 2006.

Pulling together 30 of New Zealand's most outstanding and celebrated vocalists including Amanda Billing, Fiona Samuel, Jackie Clarke, Jean McAllister, Jennifer Ward-Lealand and group founder and soloist Rick Bryant, JUBILATION offers audiences a repertoire that combines songs by contemporary writers such as Ben Harper, Van Morrison and Tom Waits and traditional African-American gospel. This talented bunch also presents songs from their own in house writing and arranging team.

Though the all-star group is not affiliated to any church, their success has been almost biblical in proportions; in 2006 alone, the group once again provided backing vocals for Don McGlashan's APRA Silver Scroll winning song "Bathe In The River" with Hollie Smith. Only this time, it was during the live televised APRA Silver Scrolls award ceremony. Jubilation quickly followed suit with another live television performance, this time at the Tui Awards.

The success expands upon their charted rise to prominence in the music scene, which saw them a year before produce celebrated performances at WOMAD, The Tauranga and Taupo Arts Festival and on the big screen, again with "Bathe In The River". The group's ascension has seem them evolve from Auckland City's underground following playing during the summer months at Alleluya Café on K-Road to catching the attention of the New Zealand audience and partaking in shows around the winter months.

"This choir is probably the most versatile selection of singers in New Zealand today and can only be described as spectacular!" - NZ Musician Oct/Nov 2006:

Formed over five years ago, Jubilation has expanded its membership to include outstanding vocalists from many walks of musical life, further emphasizing the eclectic styles which will have audiences met with Southern Gospel sounds of "Wan't Gonna Tell Nobody (Testify)" alongside contemporary classics such as "People Get Ready." The choir is currently in production of their first CD, which is planned for release in 2008.

The Big Gospel Gig performs with cabaret seating, providing a chance for audiences to mingle and may allow some of the more plucky members of the choir to get out into the audience leaving behind the limitations of a regular staged environment.
