Right Honourable Opening Announced for Air New Zealand Fashion Week
The stage is set for Air New Zealand Fashion Week 2007 and who better to open the event than the ultimate supporter of the arts – the Rt Hon Helen Clark.
Pieter Stewart, Managing Director of Air New Zealand Fashion Week, today announced the Prime Minister will formally open Air New Zealand Fashion Week at the Official Ceremony on Sunday September 16th.
“The Prime Minister is a fantastic champion of the arts and we are thrilled that she is with us again this year to open the event,” says Pieter.
Prime Minister Helen Clark has nothing but praise for Air New Zealand Fashion Week. "Fashion is a serious business for New Zealand. In the 21st century, our fashion designers are part of New Zealand's transformation to a higher value economy,” she says.
“The work of New Zealand designers reflects our nation as dynamic, creative and innovative, and able to take on the competition anywhere in the world. Their commercial success shows that Kiwis can build strong business on the foundation of creative design.”
As the regional home to Air New Zealand Fashion Week and Strategic Partner for the 2007 event, Auckland City Council is a longstanding supporter of the city’s creative industries and has sponsored Air New Zealand Fashion Week from its inception. Auckland City Council is an ardent supporter of emerging New Zealand fashion talent and leverage this support through their associated sponsorship of the AUT Rookie Show at Air New Zealand Fashion Week.
