The Return Of The Dub
It's been four years since Kaikoura's finest dubsters graced us with a fresh studio set, but this week Heal Me returns Salmonella Dub to the upper regions of the Albums Chart, taking highest new entry honours at #2.
Formed in the early ‘90s and named for their bent dub cover versions, the nucleus of the Dub are Andrew Penman, David Deakins and Mark Tyler. MC Tiki Taane is about to drop his own solo album.
1999 saw their first album to chart, the #7 Killervision, which featured the first of their four hit singles, the #12 For The Love Of It.
There've been two chart-toppers, both opening in the pole position – 2001's Inside The Dubplates and 2003's One Drop East (the last set of new material).
In all, Heal Me gives Salmonella Dub seven chart albums in Aotearoa. And they'll be live October 5 at the Phat Club in Nelson!

Otara’s Young Sid
"You can come closer, I'm one of the nice guys from Otara," said Young Sid at his album launch for The Truth in Auckland a week ago.
The 21-year-old rapper showed himself to be a perfectionist and is rewarded with the second of just two new album entries this week, gaining a respectable #27 debut for his solo debut.
The album was recorded last year in New York City with Cochise at the console. Sidney ‘Young Sid’ Diamond is a member of SmashProof and is joined on The Truth by label and bandmate Tyree and US rapper Chamillionaire.

The New Singles
Kanye West claims his second New Zealand chart-topper as Stronger dethrones Sean Kingston, but it's heating up at the top. Akon makes the biggest move of the week and lands in the runner-up position with Sorry, Blame It On Me taking a massive 33-place jump.

#8 50 Cent featuring Justin Timberlake - Ayo Technology
Curtis Jackson first graced our Singles chart as part of the family in Notorious B.I.G.'s 1999 #19 Victory. April 2004 saw his solo debut the eight-week #1 In Da Club. Now 50 Cent claims his 14th hit here with Ayo Technology, the lead single from his freshly dropped Curtis set. Collaborating on his new hit is Mr sell-out-Vector-two-nights-in-a-row Timberlake. Fresh from collecting MTV Awards is rewarded for his help by making it a baker's dozen in our Singles list and his fifth this year.

#32 Timbaland - Apologize
It's a first! Timbaland lands a hit single solo with no collaborators! Apologize lands at #32 from the newly certified platinum album Shock Value. Timothy Mosley claims two slots as his previous hit with Keri Hilson, The Way I Are, slips to #9. All bar one of Timbaland's half dozen hits have featured other artists including Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, Missy Elliott and The Pussycat Dolls.

The New Albums
In the week that Pavarotti died, Welsh tenor Paul Potts makes it a half dozen weeks on top of the Albums survey with One Chance, fractionally ahead of Salmonella Dub.

#2 Salmonella Dub - Heal Me

#27 Young Sid - The Truth
