Steven Nichol to join Speight’s Crew to Bahamas
Steven Nichol to join Speight’s Great Beer Delivery in the Bahamas
Speight’s announced today that Steven Nichol, a farmer from Middlemarch in Central Otago, will replace Lindsay Gilbert on the Speight’s Great Beer Delivery. Nichol was one of the three non-travelling reserves named along with the crew in June.
Nichol will depart for Nassau in the Bahamas on Saturday where he will meet the MV Lida and the rest of the Speight’s crew charged with getting the Alehouse to London. “I’m stoked to have the opportunity to be part of the adventure,” says Nichol. He says he’ll be taking his i-pod, jandals and a rugby ball with him and that he’s a practical thinker and enjoys a quiet beverage so will fit in well on the ship.
Stu McIntosh, Otago/Southland Sales Manager for Speight’s, says it’s a bonus to have been able to put another practical farmer on the ship. “The boys have all been telling us they’re a bit nervous about Lindsay’s departure as he’s the expert on moving the Alehouse around on board, but we’re sure Steve will fill his shoes nicely,” he says.
Gilbert, who decided to leave the ship last week to return to his farm and family, arrives back in Southbridge this afternoon.
