Gamble Free Day

Along with other community organisations the Problem Gambling Foundation has organised a number of events for Gamble Free Day on Saturday, September 1, 2007.

Auckland

Picket at Skycity

10-30 am Saturday 1 September at Skycity, Victoria St. The picket will be joined by a parade and a street theatre performance will highlight the damage done by pokies.

Christchurch

March

A march to the square will draw attention to the harm done by gambling.

Meet at the Corner of Durham and Peterborough St

11.45 am

The Esplanade pub in New Brighton will close its pokies for the day. A sausage sizzle and display will be held there following the march.

Wellington

Pokie Concern Wellington will hold an event in the Civic Square.

11am to 2pm.

Hamilton

The new Hamilton PGF office will be opened on Friday 31 August. A range of activities will accompany the opening.

Rotorua and Districts

A community celebration will be held in the Community Focus between 11 am and 2 pm.

Information displays will be mounted in Whakatane, Kawerau and Opotoki.

New Plymouth and Districts

Information displays in New Plymouth, Stratford and Hawera libraries.

Nelson

Stalls in local markets will give out information.

All gambling operators have been asked to close for the day.

Asian Team Activities

The PGF Asian team has three events:

A Chinese play will be on in Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Dunedin and Christchurch between August 24 and September 10.

A song competition with the theme "Protect Your Family From Gambling Harm" will be held.

Discount meals at a range of Asian restaurants will be available to people who present a Gamble Free Day voucher.
