Volunteers Required For Blind Week Appeal

Volunteers Required For Blind Week Appeal

See the difference you make by volunteering a few hours of your time during the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blinds (RNZFB) annual Blind Week appeal, 23-29 October.

The RNZFB needs thousands of volunteers to help raise the $1 million it requires to continue providing essential services to its approximately 11,700 members. The inspiration behind this years appeal is to see the difference you make, and donating your time is a great way to make a difference.

Volunteers are the key to a successful Blind Week, says Patrick Holmes, RNZFB Divisional Manager, Fundraising.

By spending just a few hours collecting on the streets, in local malls, supermarkets and shopping centres, volunteers will be helping us to continue to support blind, deafblind and vision-impaired people in their community.

The minimum number of volunteers needed for each area is:

Auckland/Northland 2,000; Waikato/King Country 1,500; Bay of Plenty 1,500;
Hawkes Bay Region 400; Wellington Region 2,450; Marlborough/Nelson 350;
Canterbury/West Coast 2,500; and Otago/Southland 3,000.

To donate a few hours of your time during Blind Week please call 0508 BLIND WEEK (0508 254 639) to speak to your nearest Regional Fundraising Manager or visit www.blindweek.org.nz.

The RNZFB is New Zealands primary provider of vision-related rehabilitation services for blind, deafblind, and vision-impaired people. Every year nearly 1,200 New Zealanders become members of the RNZFB after experiencing serious sight loss.
