Valuable Archive Footage Available for Sustainability Film Challenge

Young filmmakers have a unique opportunity to use valuable broadcast footage in their entries for THE OUTLOOK FOR SOMEDAY sustainability film challenge.

The footage, which covers a broad environmental and social range, has been made available by TVNZ Television Archive, the international Television Trust for the Environment, Greenpeace and Connected Media.

“The idea is for creative and passionate young New Zealanders to communicate their outlook for the future through film, and it’s great that these television organizations are helping them with special access to their footage,” said David Jacobs, Director of Connected Media, a charitable trust whose mission is to promote sustainability through media.

New Zealanders up to 20 years of age can enter THE OUTLOOK FOR SOMEDAY. The challenge is now being taken up by individuals and teams in schools, tertiary institutions all over New Zealand.

On the project website at www.theoutlookforsomeday.net young New Zealanders are encouraged to “make a short film about how you see the future unfolding. Look at your world through a lens of sustainability. Give your personal take on what matters to you, focused on the future.”

The website contains all entry details and an online Toolkit which young people can use to help them plan and make their films. The films can be any genre at all and any length up to 5 minutes.

There are now 6 weeks to go until the entry deadline on 21 September.
