Battles NZ Tour
Battles NZ Tour
Feel Presents/Tally Ho Presents is pretty darn hoppingly excited to announce two New Zealand dates for the super heated BATTLES. If you haven’t already heard the first single ‘Atlas’ getting thrashed on your local bNet radio station, or seen the video on C4 (or on YouTube), then almost certainly you will have heard someone talking about something they heard that sounds like nothing else they have ever heard….and now you CAN hear them – Live!
Auckland – Friday the 21st of September – Kings Arms
Wellington – Saturday 22nd of September – San Francisco Bath House
Tickets on sale nationally from Thursday 12th
of July at Ticketmaster.co.nz and Real Groovy stores
The Battles are John Stanier (Tomahawk, Helmet), Ian Williams (Don Caballero) Dave Konopka (Lynx) and Tyondai Braxton
Having served time in seminal acts Don Caballero, Helmet, Tomahawk, Lynx and The Mark of Cain amongst others, Battles draw from a sprawling range of styles and sounds and distill this erratic static into the tightest mindfuck jams to be committed to playable format. Tyondai Braxton is the son of noted experimental/idiosyncratic jazz musician Anthony Braxton, who has released over 100 albums since the 1960s. Battles appeals to fans of key alternative international acts such as Mars Volta, Explosions In The Sky, TV On The Radio, Fugazi, Tortiose, Melvins etc…
The first single Atlas is a verifiable anthem, unrelenting and gigantic, but never surrendering them skewed aesthetic of the band’s past. This rhythmic rocker features some freaky vocals, a stomping drum beat & a captivating juggernaut of a groove & has a killer video featuring Battles performing in style.
The video for Atlas had an exclusive international release on Pitchfork, and has already received 335,000+ views on Youtube…have a look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpGp-22t0lU
